Katherine Gorge is located in Nitmiluk National Park in Australia’s Northern Territory.

Katherine Gorge is about 250km from Darwin and is a terrific place to relax on a river cruise.

This is at the top end of our Kimberley tours.

The magnificent deep sandstone gorge has been shaped over the years by the Katherine River which flows through the Nitmiluk National Park and the southern edge of Kakadu National Park.

The Katherine River Gorge system is made up of thirteen gorges. Rapids and spectacular waterfalls populate the area.
The area is managed by the Jawoyn people who uphold great cultural significance to the land. Rock paintings are scattered on the walls of the gorge.

The river is home to freshwater crocodiles that can be seen basking in the sun on the sandy river banks.

Our Kimberley tours bring tourists to the most picturesque location in the Northwestern part of Australia and Katherine Gorge is always a favourite stop. Katherine Gorge is ranked the #1 place to stop in Katherine by Trip Advisor.
